Dunnes Stores deal for stake in Tipperary butchers Whelan's

Acquisition has been referred to competition commission

Dunnes Stores has bought two companies owned by Pat Whelan, the champion Tipperary butcher.

The deal has been notified to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.

According to the CCPC, the proposed acquisition will see Dunnes Stores buy two companies, Whelan Food & Meat Processors Limited and Tipperary Sustainable Food Company Limited.
