Bono fund invests in African firm

The Rise Fund, a €1.6 billion social impact fund co-founded by U2 frontman Bono, has bought 34 per cent of ecotourism business Wilderness Holdings.

Wilderness is listed on the Botswana and Johannesburg stock exchanges and has a market capitalistion of about €100 million.

Bono helped start The Rise Fund last year with private equity group TPG, raising €1.6 billion to focus on commercial projects capable of having a social environmental impact.
