A major UK-led report on the risks of artificial intelligence will be crucial to avoiding a late “scramble” to regulate the technology, an Irish adviser has said.

Ciarán Seoighe, deputy director general at Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and part of a 32-person international body advising on the report's development, promised it would offer a "broad" sweep of guidance for policymakers on future regulation.
