Feeney inspired others, including Bill Gates, to follow his example
The Tánaiste Michael Martin has led tributes to Chuck Feeney, the Irish-American billionaire and philanthropist, who has died at the age of 92.
Feeney, who made his fortune in retailing, donated huge sums to Irish causes and higher education research. He was also responsible for the Giving While Living campaign, which encouraged the uber-rich to give their money to good causes.
