The owner of Tara Mines has told workers that negotiations over a rescue plan for the facility have broken down, casting fresh doubt on whether Europe’s biggest zinc mine will reopen.
Boliden Tara Mines, which shuttered the Co Meath facility last July, wrote to workers on Friday night to inform them that talks with trade unions had reached an “impasse” after months of back and forths over whether the mine can start operating again.
