Restaurants and cafés could be in line for further state supports in the coming months amid a coalition row over the Vat rate for the industry in Ireland, a Fine Gael minister has said.

Neale Richmond, the junior enterprise minister, told the Business Post that he favoured splitting the Vat rate, which was hiked back up from the pandemic-era 9 per cent to 13.5 per cent last September, before this year’s budget.
