Ireland’s pension ranking to be boosted by introduction of auto-enrolment

Ireland’s retirement income system ranks poorly on sustainability but better on integrity and adequacy

The government’s proposed automatic enrolment pension scheme should improve the ranking of country’s retirement income system, according to Mercer.

Ireland’s system was ranked 13th in the latest Mercer CFA Institute Global Pension Index, an increase of one position compared to last year.

The latest score assigned to the Irish pension system is its highest since 2014 after three consecutive consecutive years of improvement.
