Inflation continues record run, tops 5% for 24th straight month

Consumer Price Index (CPI), the main measure of inflation for the Central Statistics Office (CSO), rose by 6.4 per cent year on year in September 2023, up from the 6.3 per cent recorded in August.

The CSO’s core inflation index has now risen by at least 5 per cent for the 24th straight month, following a similar increase in inflation at an EU-wide level.
