Energy and good prices push inflation up to 5%

Uptick from August indicates that the slowdown in inflation could be reversing

Inflation rose by 0.1 per cent to 5 per cent between August and September

Inflation rose by 5 per cent in the 12 months to September according to the EU Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) for Ireland - up 0.1 per cent month-on-month.

Energy prices proved a key driver in the increase as they rose by 3.7 per cent in September and 9 per cent in the 12 months up to the end of that month.
