Gamestop closing Irish stores as losses reach €40m

The video game retailer last month announced it would no longer issue gift cards or offer other services in Ireland

Last year, financial filings published for GameStop's Irish business said its future is in “significant doubt” due to ongoing losses at the company.

GameStop, the video game retailer, has started closing down sales at several Irish outlets.

In March, the retailer announced it would no longer sell gift cards, trade or purchase used consoles or allow customers to pre-order products. When it announced the cessation of certain services, GameStop told customers to use existing gift cards "as soon as possible."
