‘Concerning’ high-earners situation in HSE has ‘deteriorated rather than improved’

One individual working for the HSE last year earned nearly €1 million, despite review into high earners being completed in 2022

A 2022 review carried out into 68 hospital consultants earning between €300,000 and €760,000 identified a range of serious failures in financial controls

The problem of “high earners” in the HSE has “deteriorated…rather than improved” since an audit was carried out last year, the health service board has warned.

Describing the situation as “concerning” at a HSE board meeting on June 30, the board asked for further updates on the high earners action plan in September.
