The Central Bank is to undertake a major assessment of Ireland’s flood protection gap as both policyholders and the insurance industry grapple with the growing impact of climate change.

The regulator, which oversees the insurance market here, has said that flooding is one of the most pressing challenges facing the insurance industry and is only set to worsen significantly in the years ahead.
