Analysis: TikTok ban was inevitable – but it took Ireland’s government a while to get there

Lingering concerns around the ownership structure of the video-sharing app meant the decision to restrict access to the app on official devices was unsurprising. Some say the government should go further and ban other apps to ensure the safety of state phones

When he heard that the government had moved to ban TikTok from official devices on Friday, Daragh O’Brien wasn’t surprised.
