US healthcare company to create 300 jobs in Limerick

US-based company Fazzi Healthcare Services will create300 jobs in Limerick over the next five years with the establishment of a new Irish-based medical coding and healthcare services firm.

The new Irish company has already begun providing coding services to the US home care and hospice sector while it also plans to offer billing and distance-learning to international insurance companies and government healthcare bodies.

Founded in 1978, parent company Fazzi Associates is headquartered in Massachusetts and also operates in the areas of consulting, education, benchmarking and research.

“This is a very significant announcement for Limerick with the creation of 300 new jobs in a new and emerging business activity for the medical sector," Jobs Minister Mary Mitchell O'Connor. "I am very keen to pursue opportunities for investment and job creation in new sectors, these are increasingly possible with our infrastructure and talented workforce which enables companies like Fazzi to undertake work for customers in different parts of the world."

The project is supported by IDA Ireland. Yesterday, four companies operating in the IT and pharma sectors announcedthe creation of 675 jobs in Dublin, Cork and Galway.
