Irish Q1 employment rises by 2.4% to 1.98 million
April jobless rate revised down to 7.9% from 8.4%
Irish employment rose by an annual 2.4 per cent, or 46,900, in the first quarter to 1,976,500 as the unemployment rate fell to 8.3 per cent from nine per cent over the quarter, new figures show.
The latest data from the Central Statistics Office also show that the jobless rate for April was revised down to 7.9 per cent from a previously-reported 8.4 per cent.
