Rules place strict regulations on advertising by barristers and solicitors

The government has been warned by the European Commission that the current ban on lawyers touting for business is “absolutely not okay”.

Restrictions on lawyers advertising have been under scrutiny in recent years, with the Department of Foreign Affairs receiving two formal notices, in 2013 and again in 2014, from the commission flagging a potential breach of an EU services directive.
