Minister for Foreign Affairs Charlie Flanagan has warned that border controls between the North and South of the island are a realistic prospect following Britain’s vote to leave the EU.

Northern Ireland secretary of state Theresa Villiers, who advocated a Leave vote, claimed there would be no changes to the border situation, amid warnings from the Remain side that controls would return.
