The government’s plan to introduce compulsory health warnings on beer, wine and spirits sold in Ireland are under threat after a number of EU countries raised objections to the proposal.

The Public Health Alcohol Bill, which the Programme for Government commits to enacting, would introduce minimum unit pricing and compulsory labelling on alcohol products as part of plans to tackle the country’s binge drinking problem.
