TD Brian Stanley’s offensive tweets aside, the party needs to actively show that it is serious about reconciliation and inclusion
Sinn Féin has made much of its desire to rise above sectarianism and bigotry. Just last year, the party launched its third strategy for “inclusion and reconciliation in a new Ireland”.
But actions count louder than words. Brian Stanley, the Sinn Féin Laois-Offaly TD, showed no regard for reconciliation on this island when he sent an offensive tweet about the Provisional IRA’s bomb attack on British paratroopers.
