Huawei is confident of expanding its consumer business in Ireland despite fears over its ability to collaborate with Google due to US sanctions.

The head of the Chinese phone maker’s Irish consumer business, Byron Maxi, said there had been no impact on sales since the restrictions were introduced in spring.

“Our business has not been impacted by the political situation,” he said last week.
