Enet chief executive Peter McCarthy has defended the government’s decision to stick with National Broadband Ireland’s (NBI) bid for the National Broadband Plan (NBP), despite claims by Eir that it could provide a lower-cost alternative.

“In fairness to Eir, it has been saying the same thing from the start. To do national broadband connectivity, I think it always would have gone down the hybrid road,” McCarthy told The Sunday Business Post.
