Unified communications (UC) offers more than just telephony and instant messaging (IM), but are enterprises taking advantage of the possibility of global collaboration and deep integration into business applications, asks Jason Walsh

Communication is the lifeblood of business: without that call the sale won’t be made, the supplier won’t know about changes to the order, the invoice won’t be paid or the frustrated customer will take their business elsewhere.
