TikTok appeals DPC’s €345m data privacy fine

Company has filed an appeal in the European Union’s General Court and is challenging locally an order by the DPC to eliminate “deceptive or manipulative” practices

The fine followed intense scrutiny of child safeguarding practices at TikTok, which has more than 1 billion users worldwide

TikTok, the popular video-sharing platform, has confirmed it is appealing the €345 million data privacy fine and a compliance order issued against it last month by the Data Protection Commission (DPC) for failing to take care of the private data of its teenage users.
