The war for talent

Despite more than a year of high profile job losses at major tech firms, the sector remains buoyant. Jason Walsh asks what roles will be in demand in the years to come

It has been an era of bloodletting for the tech sector. 2022 was dominated by the shedding of jobs by the hundreds and sometimes even thousands. 2023 wasn’t much better, either. By November, data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) found IT was the weakest sector for growth, having dropped to minus 2.7 per cent in September.
