Stripe agrees $6.5bn fundraise at a $50bn valuation

Financing to be used to provide liquidity to current and former employees and address withholding tax obligations related to equity awards

Stripe, the payments company founded by Patrick and John Collison, has signed agreements for a more than $6.5 billion (€6.15 billion) fundraise at a $50 billion(€47 billion) valuation.

Primary investors include existing Stripe shareholders—Andreessen Horowitz, Baillie Gifford, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, MSD Partners, and Thrive Capital. In addition, a number of new backers are participating in the Series I round, including GIC, Goldman Sachs Asset and Wealth Management, and Temasek.
