Irish-led drone firm achieves major milestone in Britain

John McKenna’s is given permission by the Civil Aviation Authority to remotely inspect live electricity lines is now one of only a handful of companies worldwide with routine permission to closely inspect a national electricity grid remotely, an Irish-led, Boeing-backed tech firm, has become the first company in Britain to secure permission to fly drones remotely to inspect live overhead high voltage power lines.

The granting of permission by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is seen as a major step forward towards’s goal of enabling safe operation of drone fleets at national scale.
