Irish jobs at risk as Ebay to slash 1,000 roles globally

The last publicly available accounts for Ebay’s Irish operation show it employed 1,078 people across sales and marketing, and administration at the end of 2022

Ebay joins more than 60 other tech companies, including Amazon, Riot Games and Google parent Alphabet , that have let almost 11,000 employees go globally so far this year

Ebay, the online auction site, which still employs a significant number of people in Ireland, is to cut 1,000 jobs, equivalent to 9 per cent of its employee base.

The news come just over a year after the firm laid off 500 employees.

Ebay said in a statement late on Tuesday that it needs to be “more nimble” in the face of a “challenging” economic environment.
