DPC moves on ChatGPT after software banned by Italian privacy watchdog

The Data Protection Commission (DPC) has contacted Italy’s privacy watchdog seeking answers after it ordered a temporary ban of ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, on Friday.

Italy’s data protection authority issued an order telling OpenAI, the company that developed ChatGPT, to suspend processing the data of Italian users, which could effectively mean the company has to block people living in Italy from accessing its software.
