Apple laid off hundreds of workers as car and smartwatch projects ended

The tech giant began to wind down the ‘moonshot’ projects in February

Apple laid off hundreds of employees in the US as part of the decisions to end its car and smartwatch display projects, according to new documents.

Filings with the California Employment Development Department show that Apple filed eight separate reports to the state to comply with the worker adjustment and retraining Notification, or WARN program.

At least 600 employees were laid off, according to the filings.
