Virgin Media to test commercial viability of League of Ireland broadcasts next month

The second batch of three live games by the broadcaster are being used to examine viewer interest in the league

Virgin Media will test the financial viability of broadcasting League of Ireland games over three consecutive weeks next month, according to its head of sport.

The broadcaster announced on Wednesday that it would show the game between Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians on September 1 followed by Derry City vs Bohemians on September 15 and St Patrick’s Athletic vs Dundalk on September 22. These are consecutive match days for the league as the off week is ...
