RTÉ sets viewership records with Women’s World Cup

The Republic of Ireland’s clash with Canada at the 2023 Women’s World Cup had an average of 551,000 viewers, the highest ever for a women’s team sport event in Ireland.

RTÉ’s coverage of the event set multiple records for the broadcaster. Excluding Ireland matches, games shown by the broadcaster averaged a 20.7 per cent audience share, up from 8.9 per cent from the 2019 tournament.
