World’s oldest near-complete Hebrew Bible goes to auction

The Codex Sassoon is the most complete copy of the Hebrew Bible dating from the late ninth or early tenth century, containing all 24 books of the Hebrew Bible divided into three parts, the Torah, the Nevi’im and the Ketuvim. Missing only 12 leaves, it will be offered for sale by Sotheby’s New York on May 16.
