No empty Gestures in a bold new series at Sotheby’s

Sculptor Joseph Walsh’s latest wooden pieces are designed to sit together in harmony as an exhibition and also to stand alone as functional works

Sotheby’s has always been at the fore in championing and promoting contemporary design and craft.

I remember from my time at the auction house Janice Blackburn’s spectacular contemporary craft and design exhibitions, which took over the Bond Street galleries for several days. They showcased dozens of established and up-and-coming designers. Many have gone on to become international acclaimed creators, including Ron Arad and Edmund de Waal.
