Innovative artists uses images from film to enrich his paintings

Stephen Loughman, a graduate of the National College of Art & Design, Dublin, uses appropriation of film imagery, photography and found images in his paintings.

Often using imagery sourced from science fiction and horror films, paused on his TV screen and meticulously copied and distilled into paintings, sometimes leading to an uncanny and unsettling atmosphere being created.

Loughman's current exhibition, Our Elaborate Plans, at Kevin Kavanagh Gallery uses imagery from commercial films as source material. ...
