Meet the artist: photographer Michael Boran captures unfamiliar views of the familiar
The photographic artist found that working during lockdown brought his focus back to the local and the domestic
Dublin-born Michael Boran is a graduate of NCAD. A lens-based artist, he works primarily with still photographic images while also making short film and slide shows.
Boran’s work tracks the fleeting traces of interactions between time, place and activity. Often using aerial viewpoints from a height, at which the camera seems to be about to float away from the world, his photographs offer the viewer unfamiliar visions of the familiar.
