Inflation drives cost of Balbriggan Harbour rework to €15m as project enters final tender stage
Estimated costs of refurbishment increased by €5 million since the plans were first launched in July 2022
Fingal County Council last week invited shortlisted companies to submit their final tenders to carry out the council’s plans for a multi-million euro refurbishment of Balbriggan’s Quay Street and Harbour in north Co Dublin.
Plans are now well developed for the €15 million redevelopment works situated on both sides of the town’s viaduct, which will redefine Balbriggan’s beach and coastline, creating a new visitor attraction.
The estimated costs of this part of the overall €50 million Our Balbriggan 2019-2025 Rejuvenation Plan have increased by 50 per cent from €10 million since the plans were first launched for public consultation in July 2022.
