Dance to your own tune in sylvan Enniskerry retreat

Home to four generations of the Butler family, Scalp House comes with a former dance hall and tea rooms and sits within a beautiful wooded setting, writes Tina-Marie O’Neill

The generous double-fronted Scalp House dates to about 1904 and sits on about 2.24 acres of land in a beautiful wooded setting on Enniskerry Road

Cradled on the floor of the Scalp glacial valley in Enniskerry, and right on the Dublin/Wicklow border, Scalp House resembles a getaway one would expect in the most remote of bucolic locations.

Despite appearances, it is, however, set on the 117, the winding, well-trodden, sylvan road that links Kilternan Village in Dublin and Enniskerry Village in Co Wicklow. It is also 30 minutes by road from Dublin city centre and 40 minutes from Dublin airport.
