Last month’s busy auction season was set against the backdrop of international economic uncertainty yet saw a solid set of sales achieved across all collecting fields

Jack Butler Yeats’ River Mouth from 1946: sold for €180,000

Whyte’s Irish & International Art, September 26, offered 149 works. Some 83 per cent sold grossing €1.65 million. Highlights include: Lot 23, The Changing Dawn from 1946, by Jack B Yeats, sold for €220,000. Lot 26 is also from 1946, entitled River Mouth, realised €180,000. Lot 55, William Scott’s Chinese Orange III, sold for €110,000 against an estimate of €40,000-€60,000.
