Varadkar signals an extension to first-time buyers’ grant
Eoghan Murphy, the Minister for Housing and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar PA

The Taoiseach has indicated that the first-time buyers’ grant will be saved in the budget.

Leo Varadkar promised the Construction Industry Federation in a recent private meeting that there would be a strong signal about the help-to-buy scheme in the summer economic statement.

Although that did not materialise, he has now given a strong assurance about the future of the grant, which is due to expire on December 31.
