Varadkar says claims Attorney General’s office was used politically are ‘unfair’

The Taoiseach also said there was nothing ‘sinister’ about how the government tried to minimise payments over nursing home care

Leo Varadkar has said criticism of the government’s use of the Office of the Attorney General over the nursing home charges controversy is “unfair”.

The Taoiseach said there was also nothing “sinister” over the government looking to reduce its liability for payouts on nursing home fees, arguing this was done in the interest of the taxpayer.
