Ahtisaari has died at the age of 86 after a long career in peace processes around the world
President MIchael D Higgins has led the tributes to Martti Ahtisaari, the former Finnish Prime Minister who played a key role in IRA decommissioning.
Ahtisaari, who died earlier today at the age of 86, had been part of the international team which was involved in supervising and verifying the decommissioning of IRA weapons.
