Septic tank checks would take 500 years to complete

The inspections of the country’s septic tanks will take 500 years at current rates even though almost three quarters of them have been classified as “very high risk”.

A memo to the board of the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) last October stated that the inspections of the country’s 500,000 septic tanks were improving compliance with standards at a “very slow rate” due to limited resources available to councils.
