Reforms to the electoral system to allow all university graduates to vote in Seanad elections will be deferred until after the next vote, and may mean that it is 2030 before they can cast a ballot.
The government is under pressure to reform the Seanad electoral system after a recent Supreme Court judgment found that it was unconstitutional to only allow graduates of certain universities to vote in Seanad elections.
