The British government has been warned that its plans to allow non-EU goods into the North at lower tariffs will provide a huge incentive for cross-border smugglers.
It is pledging to avoid any physical border posts but still wants the right to negotiate free trade deals with non-EU countries such as Brazil, China and the US.
This would potentially allow goods from such countries to be imported into the North tariff free.
