Planning system set for radical overhaul under new legislation

The government is proposing a “radical” overhaul of the planning system under new legislation currently being drafted, the Business Post understands.

A new Consolidated Planning Bill will be brought before cabinet early next month which will set out a range of measures designed to reform the planning system, including much stricter rules around the judicial review process, mandatory timelines for all decisions by An Bord Pleanála, and changes to county development plans.
