Ó Broin calls on regulator to examine high number of successful fire safety appeals

Analysis by this newspaper found 90 per cent of appeals by developers to cut building safety conditions were upheld by An Bord Pleanála

Eoin Ó Broin, Sinn Féin’s spokesman on housing, has asked the Office of the Planning Regulator to investigate An Bord Pleanála’s handling of fire safety certificate appeals.

Ó Broin’s intervention comes after a Business Post analysis found that property developers have been successful in amending or overturning fire safety conditions in nearly 90 per cent of cases.
