The number of claims made by sub-contractors to recover bills of over €10,000 for construction projects has almost doubled in the past year, according to new figures.

The low-cost construction contracts adjudication process was set up following a six-year campaign by Feargal Quinn, the late independent senator, to help sub-contractors who could not afford to go to court to chase late payments or non-payments.
