New review to determine make-up of energy supports for households and businesses in the Budget

The Department of Public Expenditure has asked its officials to carry out a review of the energy supports ahead of the budget.

The government has set up a review of energy supports for households and businesses ahead of the Budget.

It has spent around €3 billion on payments to households and businesses over the past two years to help them cope with the rise in energy prices following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

These include three electricity credits of €200 each to all households, plus a temporary business energy support scheme.
