Uisce Éireann will be able to deliver new water infrastructure upgrades up to two years faster after a change in the planning rules.

The construction of new water treatment and wastewater treatment plants has been held up because the company has to buy the necessary land via a compulsory purchase order (CPO) before it can apply for planning permission.
