Midlands-North West to gain MEP in European Parliament elections

Electoral Commission recommended transfer of Laois and Offaly from South to Midlands constituency

The electoral commission has recommended that an additional MEP be allocated to the Midland-North West constituency, increasing the total number of Irish MEPs by one to 14.

It also advised that the counties of Laois and Offaly transfer from the South constituency into the Midlands constituency.

The proposals will see the number of Midlands MEPs increase from four to five.
